Product Description

As a nationally published author on Surviving Natural Disasters and Man-Made disasters I am often asked at presentations, “what more can I do to get myself and my neighbors ready”? If there is one point that I like to emphasize beyond the basic survival list, it is planning on a variety of different communication methods for before, during and after a disaster. I highly recommend getting on-line to sites like this one and blogs to see what is being said and how to access this info. I also recommend that neighbors create a google groups list of folks on their blocks or streets in their neighborhoods. Also establish google groups floor by floor for condo buildings so that people can check on each other through social media. Another great idea might be to establish hashtags for your neighborhood, condo or community to use to set up emergency plans that you can share. I highly recommend that everyone get on Twitter to see how it works and that younger friends or family members help elder residents connect to Facebook so that they can communicate to out of the area family in disaster. No matter where you are going today, there is someone who can access Twitter or facebook – even in a disaster!! Be the one!! I give more extensive details in my book about what you can do with social media before, during and after a disaster.

Basic Preparedness The 36 hour (3 DVD) series with the book “Basic Preparedness”

This “Basic Preparedness The 3 DVD” series was made for all of our customers and friends around the world who are not able to attend any of our live classes. “Basic Preparedness The 3 DVD” series is a 6 hour overview of the Why’s and How-To of getting Prepared. It was filmed before a live class. While this is a comprehensive look at Preparedness and things you can do, it is not the final word. This is not a quick fix. Additional study and research is required on your part to fully apply this information to your situation. You have to Want to be Prepared for what ever may come your way and you have to Want to Survive. We suggest you watch the 3 DVD’s from beginning to end, all 12 Sections, plus the Addendum and the Store Tour. Then go back to the sections you want to know more about. The book and 3 DVD series is a study guide on How-To be prepared to be on your own for extended periods of time. This “Basic Preparedness The 3 DVD” series, along with the book “Basic Preparedness” is a must for you to get started. The book “Basic Preparedness” was used as the text book for this class. We highly recommend that you have a copy to use with the DVD’s.

Description: The City of Tigard staff and Volunteers will participate in a 5 County Regional Exercise on May 22 and 23 - Tigard Seeks Volunteer “Patients” for Mock Emergency

Tigard, along with other Washington County jurisdictions, will be staging a mock bioterrorism emergency exercise on Thursday, May 23. During this emergency drill, the city will establish a point of dispensing (POD) station. PODs are large clinics, set up to rapidly distribute medication to a large number of people.

      When: Thursday, May 23, 6– 8:30 p.m.
Where: Tigard Public Works Building, 8777 SW Burnham St.
Each volunteer will be treated as a walk-in patient. Participation will take about 15 minutes, and no appointment or pre-registration is necessary. Emergency workers will treat volunteer patients with placebo medication.

§ Test its Point of Dispensing (POD) Plan.
§ Communicate and coordinate with fellow emergency responders.
§ Implement Tigard’s Emergency Response Plan.
§ Put newly acquired equipment into practice.
§ Evaluate the current plans, procedures and reporting protocols.
City services will not be affected by the exercise.

Oregon residents are required to take a handgun safety class, and pass the background check performed by the Sheriff in the Oregon County in which they reside. Most people have realized they need more than just the Oregon CHL. We now teach the Oregon, Utah and Arizona all in one class. You can still get the Oregon only if you wish but you will be sitting through and entire 4 hour class.

This class meets the minimum Oregon CHL training requirements and covers these topics:

      Basic Handgun Safety
Oregon laws on weapons and deadly force
      Self-defense principles and defensive mindset
      Concealed carry equipment and techniques
You are NOT to bring any firearms, ammunition, or recording devices of any kind.

      Applying for the CHL:

You will receive a course completion certificate, which will have my instructor information and signature on it. You will then need to take a copy of the certificate to your local sheriff’s office. Application for the Oregon CHL must be done in person at your local sheriff’s office.
